HOST CITY ANNOUNCED FOR 2009 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Chasers around the world….get ready…. We are excited to announce the Host City of The 2009 City Chase World Championships. Rumours have been circulating so we’ll see if you were right…. We are proud to announce Bishkek….. Just kidding!  

The 2009 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS will be held in beautiful SALTA, ARGENTINA, in early December (TBC). “We are thrilled to partner with Salta, Argentina for the 4th edition of The World Championships;  a colorful colonial city bordering the Andes in the Northwest part of Argentina. “Salta is city that will provide the necessary playground to host a world class event. It also offers its residents and visitors  a variety of unique landscapes and exciting adventure”, says Nick Jelinek, Creator of City Chase. 

So Chasers from around the world, get ready to meet in Argentina, where comfort zones will be pushed, where adventure and fun are guaranteed, and where memories of a life time will be created. We are also proud to announce that City Chase Salta will air on National Geographic Adventure Channel around the world in early spring 2010.

Argentina is located in the southern extreme of South America. With a continental extension of 2.791.810 km (including Malvinas Islands, other South Atlantic Islands and part of Antarctica). Argentina is the second largest country in South America and the eighth in the world. Including the Antarctic Sector, Argentina claims a total area of 3.761.274 km. It is some 1425 km across at its widest from east to west and stretches 3.800 km from the north to the south.

It is bounded by Bolivia and Paraguay on the north, Brazil, Uruguay and the Atlantic Ocean on the east, and by the Pacific Ocean and Chile on the west and south.

Chasepoint Summary

CP1 – Team gets to the Place Jama el fna and need to look for a water seller to get clue

CP2 – Tanneries’ – teams will have to tan hide, using traditional Moroccan techniques, team will have to choose between them self who goes in what hole, one will pass the skin to the other one that will clean it, once the 10 skins are done, they will have to jump into another hole to find the clue, there is only 11 clue in it so last team does not have a clue and therefore is eliminated

CP3 – Hammam – teams will have the unique chance to experience the Hamman; getting massage (very physical) as well as waxing…City chase style!

CP4 – Goat Head – teams will have to eat a Moroccan typical meal, the goat head

CP5 – Palm Tree – teams will have to plant a large number of palm tree in the palmerais

CP6 – Team will have to perform some art on the place to gather people to watch at them and get then to be applause by local (belly dancing, mime, juggle..Etc...)

CP7 – Serpent charmer – teams will have to manipulate snakes, many of them…

CP8 – Testing negotiation skills – teams will have to negotiate with a local taxi to get to Essaouira –

CP9 – Live with the locals – teams will have to use an Arabic phonetic clue to find the family that will host them for the night

CP10 – “Bourne Identity” – teams will have to run over the top of houses in the Medina, Jason Bourne style

CP11 – Fisherman for a day – teams will perform fishermen’s work in the port of the city

CP12 – Camel race – teams will have to learn the skill of camel running

CP13 – Sand and more sand – teams will have to navigate 4wheeler into sand dunes

CP14 – Finding your goat – teams will have to catch a goat roaming in a field and deliver it to the butcher (hitch a ride in a pick up truck)

CP15 – As teams ride in (above), they will be mislead into thinking that they will have to kill the goat themselves once they arrive at the butcher

CP16 – team will get to the new train station, they will have to dress in firemen cling into the firemen truck, use the big ladder to cling the 30meters building, and they will need to extinguish a fire carry a dummy and do a zip line with the dummy

CP17 – Moroccan ambiance – teams will have to recreate what they have seen in a picture - using reel furniture, lamps, etc.… this will be a difficult memory task

CP18 – Team will have to navigate into the medina to find the next location, there they will have to create some art and craft judge by artisan them selves

CP19 – Where do we go? – Teams will have to find their next location riding in an 4x4

CP20 – Sleep outside in typical Berber tent, more than one team together, interview

CP21 – Canoe Race – teams will be waked up at 4 am to shuttle them up the river OURIKA, they will have to race down a white water R2 and R3 rapid, the fasted time will get time point after the rappel

CP22 – Zip Line – teams will rappels down a very high dam. 80 metres

CP23 – Stager start, base on the result of the white water canoe, on bike to get to the farm, very safe road 24 km

CP24 – Find a farm and once arrived, teams will have to perform a donkey obstacle race-bike again into Marrakech (5kms)

CP25 – fashion show using real model and judge by stylist

CP26 – Urbanathlon – team racing on foot around the city to find the finish line

FINISH LINE – Place de Jamma El Fna where they will cross the finish line
