Remember it’s not just the winners who are grinners either. Sure, they’ll be off to compete in the Australian Regional Championship. But everyone’s got a chance to take home some great booty on the day.

Last month we announced some new prize categories (Best Dressed, Best Name, Charity, Spirit and Lucky Bib prizes). Well, we’ll also be awarding the BlackBerry City Chase Veteran Prize for the team who’s competed in the most City Chases to date.

There’s a prize for popularity as well – as in for the team who refers the most friends for this year’s events. BlackBerry City Chase 2010 is proud to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. See how you can help.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s (JDRF) mission is to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes and its complications, through the support of medical research. In 2010, BlackBerry City Chase is proud to be supporting this very worthwhile cause.

You’re already helping out by just being a part of the BlackBerry City Chase. However, there are a few other things you can do to raise even more funds.

Firstly, go to everydayhero.com.au/event/jdrf_citychase and get your friends and family to sponsor you. It’s not compulsory, but even a tiny pledge will help children with diabetes. Plus, there’s a great prize for the person who raises the most money.

If you’ve got some work-mates or clients who are interested in competing, you could also take advantage of the BlackBerry City Chase Corporate Charity Offer. We announced the venues for the Sydney and Melbourne after parties last month. It’s the James Squire Brewhouse at Darling Harbour in Sydney and Docklands in Melbourne. We can now reveal that there will be plenty of entertainment.

DJ Fing will be playing. And because you’ll have just finished the chase of a lifetime, there will be plenty of complimentary food and refreshments – thanks, in particular, to our drink sponsors Canadian Club and Nutrient Water.

CELEBRITY CHASE.

You’ll be seeing some familiar faces on
chase day.

It can be hard to recognise someone when they’re pulling a face after just eating a grasshopper. We don’t want to give away all our secrets but expect to see some famous faces at the BlackBerry City Chase 2010!

In Sydney, Reidy and Bacon from Bondi Rescue are hoping to improve on last year’s race time. They’ll also be bringing along their Bondi Rescue lifeguard mates, Maxie and Troy.

HANDY HINT.

Everyone can use some advice on how to approach Chase day

Teamwork. Stamina. A can-do attitude. They’re all integral to making your City Chase a success. A bit of research can help as well.

Making sure you know your teammate is probably the first place to start. Even then, you’re sure to learn some new things about them on the day.

Past chasers will also tell you that knowing the city’s public transport system will put you in good stead. In Melbourne, Metlink has jumped on board as an event sponsor for the second year running.

Metlink is the ‘one-stop-shop’ for information about Melbourne’s public transport network. Timetables, route maps – you’ll find it all at metlinkmelbourne.com.au or by calling 131 638.
